Google To Offer Movies On Android Market

(Our Tech Blog) Google is moving one step closer in their pursuit to become competition that Apple will have to take very seriously with their upcoming upgrade to the Android market. In the next few weeks, every owner of an Android smartphone or table with Android 2.2 or higher will be able to rent movies through the Android market. The update will take place only in the United States, but will be brought to a few countries around the world in the future.

Android users will be able to download the Google Movies app from the Android market in the near future and then use it much like iPhone users use iTunes. A list of all of the available movies will be able to be navigated very easily. Google has promised a large selection of high quality of movies, and they have already struck deals with a few movie production companies to be able to carry their movies. Google has come to an agreement with NBC Universal, Sony Pictures and Warner Brothersand is most likely trying to obtain more movies. A large and diverse movie catalog is the only way that they will be able to compete with Apple.

The movies available to rent from Google Movies will cost $1.99. Once the movie is purchased, the renter has 30 days to start watching the movie whenever they want. Once they have started watching the movie, they get one day to finish the movie. After the time expires, the movie will no longer be able to be viewed on their Android smartphone or tablet. The movies will be streamed over the internet connection on the Android device, but their will also be an option to download the film onto the smartphone or tablet. Once the movie is downloaded, the movie can be viewed anywhere without being connected to the internet. This will make this service perfect for anyone that has an upcoming flight. After the movie has been watched, it can be easily removed so it does not take up any storage.

The unveiling of Google Movies will also bring a new and improved Android market to all devices. The user interface will be easier to navigate, and more search options will be available. The goal is to make it easier to find the app that you are searching for. A new search option will also allow everyone to see all of the newly add apps to the Android market. These upgrades will make the Android market experience easier than ever before, and is making Google a strong competitor to Apple in the smartphone and tablet market.
