Android users will be able to download the Google Movies app from the Android market in the near future and then use it much like iPhone users use iTunes. A list of all of the available movies will be able to be navigated very easily. Google has promised a large selection of high quality of movies, and they have already struck deals with a few movie production companies to be able to carry their movies. Google has come to an agreement with NBC Universal, Sony Pictures and Warner Brothersand is most likely trying to obtain more movies. A large and diverse movie catalog is the only way that they will be able to compete with Apple.
The movies available to rent from Google Movies will cost $1.99. Once the movie is purchased, the renter has 30 days to start watching the movie whenever they want. Once they have started watching the movie, they get one day to finish the movie. After the time expires, the movie will no longer be able to be viewed on their Android smartphone or tablet. The movies will be streamed over the internet connection on the Android device, but their will also be an option to download the film onto the smartphone or tablet.
