(Our Tech Blog) Google's fascination with giving names to Android OS upgrades continues, with reports that the version expected next year could be called "Jelly Bean".Citing a trusted source, the ThisIsMyNext website broke the news, even though the next version of the OS is still unconfirmed as being called Ice Cream Sandwich.
Additionally, they reported that the "game-changing stuff" that had originally been scheduled for Ice Cream Sandwich is now being pushed to Jelly Bean - which may hint either at problems with the new features causing delays, or a need to deploy an interim upgrade to keep up with developments at Apple and Microsoft.
Google's Android codenames are:
- 1.5 Cupcake,
- 1.6 Donut,
- 2.0/2.1 Eclair,
- 2.2 Froyo,
- 2.3 Gingerbread,
- 3.0 Honeycomb
