(Our Tech Blog) With the launch of the iPhone 5 imminent, Apple's main OEM partner, Foxconn Electronics, has apparently started to produce around 150,000 iPhone 5 smartphones every day or roughly one million per week.According to Yenting Chen and Steve Shen from news outlet Digitimes, that should make up the bulk of the expected five to six million units shipped in September alone. Altogether, more than 22 million units are scheduled to be shipped in the last quarter of the year.
This means that around 7.3 million smartphones in a month or 240,000 units a day will have to be produced by Apple's OEM sidekicks.
Extra capacity is expected to be recovered by producing less iPhone 4 CDMA and GSM models in Q4. The report also noted that lens maker Largan Precision, touch panel maker TPK Holding, reinforced glass supplier G-Tech Optoelectronics and battery vendors Simplo and Dynapack "are all operating at full swing currently".
The iPhone 5 is expected to be released in October 2011 according to a Best Buy leak. Furthermore, the handset is very likely to come with a dual core Apple A5 SoC and an improved eight megapixel camera phone.
