Why Nausea and Dizziness After Watching 3D movies?

(Our Tech Blog) World film industry is aggressively making three-dimensional film. The film, using the 3D effect recently was Harry Potter and Transformers 3. But not a few people who complain of feeling nauseous and dizzy after watching a 3D movie. Why?

3-D movies look so real that some people will feel nauseous and dizzy after watching it. Researchers say nausea due to the 3D movie with the terms cybersickness.

Researchers say that the image looks so real in three-dimensional film can disrupt the brain's ability to sort out the signal that comes through the senses, so that can trigger nausea and dizziness.

"Dizziness, headache and nausea that occur when watching movies or IMAX 3D will make the brain receives conflicting information from the senses," said Prof. Andrea Bubka, who studied at St. cybersickness. Peter's College, Jersey City, as reported by LiveScience, Wednesday (10/08/2011).

When the images 'live' out of the screen, the eye will send a signal that tells the brain that the body is moving. But in the inner ear, where fluid motion is used to sense movement and balance, there is no detectable change in body position.

"The eyes tell the brain that the body moves, but the ears say no. This has been a cause of nausea," explains Professor Bubka.

This effect is the opposite of conditions that occur during motion sickness. For example, when reading a book while riding in the car, eyes focused on the page and do not feel that the body moves. But the fluid in the ears sense motion of the car.

"The difference between information coming from both senses this causes the brain to trigger nausea and dizziness," he concluded.
